VA Career Fairs Help Vets with Employment

Veterans Career Fair and Expos were recently scheduled in Washington, D.C. and New Orleans, La., to help veterans living in these regions find employment. Private- and government-sector employers participated in the expos, offered onsite interviews and competed to hire veterans. Additional veteran career fairs are being scheduled across the U.S., including one in Detroit, Mich., on June 25-29.  A list of upcoming career fairs is posted on VA’s website.

The career fairs offer additional services, such as helping eligible veterans register for services and benefits earned through their military service. Career coaches are also available to assist veterans in translating their military experience into marketable skills, build a resume and identify potential career opportunities within the federal government. Breakout sessions offer information on resume writing, interview skills, and small business opportunities. Free child care is also available.

In addition to the targeted career fairs, the Department of Veterans Affairs' (VA) website, vaforvets.va.gov, offers career-search tools for vets seeking a career with the VA, career development for veterans and reintegration support for military service members.
