House Panel Wants Better Oversight of VA
Members of the House Veterans
Affairs Committee (HVAC) expressed frustration at a hearing this week
regarding delays and inaccuracies in the Department of Veterans Affairs
(VA) reports regarding VA employee conferences and foreign
travel.
“Lengthy delays or
not responding to requests at all has become the norm,” stated
Rep. Jeff Miller, (Fla.) HVAC
Chairman. In an effort to stem excess spending, the House passed a
bill (H.R. 2302) last year, which VA opposed, to increase accountability
and oversight of VA conference spending. The provisions of the bill
became law earlier this year (P.L. 112-154).
